Apple Maps - How long does it take for a new entry to be approved?

Like many other small business, my listing is missing in the new Apple Maps app and customers are having difficulty in finding me on their iphones.

Last Friday I attempted to add my business using these instructions - http://www.didgeroo.com/blog/41-tips-tricks/282-how-to-add-your-business-listing -to-apple-maps I also added a listing to Yelp.

It's almost a week now and my business still does not appear when searching Apple Maps. My Yelp listing is there, but nothing in Apple Maps.

Has anyone had any luck adding their business to Apple Maps? How long did it take to appear after you submitted a report?

I guess there must be a huge backlog at Apple. Would be nice if the process was more transparent - e.g. details of the approval process would help.

Quick update. It's 7 days now and guess what? My listing is still missing.

Yesterday I attempted another idea. I've added my UK business to Tom Tom Places. It now showing up on Tom Tom, but not on Apple Maps!?! 😮

Has anybody out there actullay been able to add their business to Apple Maps? How did you do it? How long did it take????

Still no news. More than a month has past and my listing still is showing. Maybe it was rejected???

Maybe it's based on report count. I think I am going to start using the "report a problem" every day until it shows up.

I'll try to post back here any findings.

Same question here - I reported numerous POI errors about a month ago and all but one are still there - there has been one change. However, completely pixellated satellite views of parts of the UK have still not been replaced by acceptable images.

I asked a similar question back then, in this thread, and one user also said that one POI change had been effected.

Hey John,

I am studying various updating methods in Apple Maps. Would you mind sharing a bit of info on the POI that got updated?

Name/Address of business

When you added to Apple Maps (assuming via "Report a Problem" screen?)

Anything else you did outside of Apple Maps to improve visibility (e.g. submitted to TomTom Places)

1 the POI that has been updated is Globus Zurich Bellevue (a department store), which was previously incorrectly labelled as EPA (a department store which closed and changed hands about 10 years ago).

2 I reported it on 26 September via Report a Problem

Other problems in the same neighbourhood that I reported at the same time have not been updated.

Interestingly, my local Italian restaurant, which was incorrectly located on 26 September and which I moved on that date to its correct location no longer appears at all on the map.

Bizarre POIs abound: a law firm is located on a road bridge across the river and has the icon of a cafe...

i've been using gps for over 15 years, long before they even had them for cars. in my experience the maps are updated once a year. i'm not saying that it won't get updated sooner, especially with this apple maps fiasco, but once a year is typical.

I'll take a look. This is pure speculation - I am guessing that the department store updated because there were enough signals from other data sources that confirmed your change. For example, I believe Apple's primary source of business listings data in Switzerland is TomTom. If you search for Globus in Zurich in TomTom at https://mycompany.places.tomtom.com/ there is a result for the address Theaterstrasse 12 zurich - http://places.tomtom.com/de_ch/detail/globus/zurich/63747953026467150.

So perhaps Apple was getting signals from other data sources that conflicted with TomTom and signaled "EPA". And your update overrode all of the other signals because it matched the TomTom data. BTW, not sure this means anything, but there are two listings for this business in TomTom. One of them links to the wrong website I think https://www.google.com/search?oq=site%3Atomtom.com+Theaterstrasse+12+zurich&q=si te%3Atomtom.com+Theaterstrasse+12+zurich&pws=0

Of course, it could have been any number of other screw-ups as well 🙂

You may want to search all of the known data suppliers and Google for queries like "epa Theaterstrasse 12 zurich" to try to find the out of date data sources. If you find any let us know, as this will be a key "paper trail" to figuring out how Apple gets some of it's data.

I've been reporting my home address as incorrect multiple times for 8 months now, still not right. I was just reminded by it because a friend was routed to the wrong location. 😠

The issue is with our zipcode which changed well over 4-5 years ago, I can't believe the data is still wrong. Using the old zip code plots at the right location.
