Q: I have an older iMac that I am replacing with a new one. Both use DDR3 Ram, but the older machine has two 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM, and the newer machine has 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM. Can I take the older DDR3 ram and add it to the new iMac in the two empty slots?
I have an older iMac (2009) that I am replacing with a new one. Both use DDR3 Ram, but the older machine has two 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM installed, and the new machine has two 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM installed. Can I take the older DDR3 ram and add it to the new iMac in the two empty slots? It would give me 8gigs instead of 4....

It won't work. Macs are VERY finicky about their RAM. Crucial or OWC are good vendors save yourself some real grief and buy the appropriate RAM for your system.
