Hello,

Try resting the SMC it may not do very much, but worth the try.

Is this an intermittent fault? or does the screen show dark the moment you first switch it on?

If you move the screen back or forward does that have any effect?

It would sound to me like the display backlighting has gone. You would need a replacement panel to fix this.

It could be a loose video cable connection, but I put my money on it being the display panel itself.

Hello,

Sounds like a replacement panel to me.

They cost differ depending on where or who your get to fit it, your be looking just over 100 for the panel.

Fitting it yourself can be archived via the following guide. http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-MacBook-Core-2-Duo-LCD-Panel/1498/1

If that's not your model check here http://www.ifixit.com/Device/MacBook

I hope this helps.

Best of luck
