Podcast app plays at random times

This is also happening with the use of Siri. For instance, if Siri is used to compose an SMS message, once Siri has completed the command, the podcast that was previously paused (sometimes over an hour again) will instantly begin playing. And of course the volume always seems to be high due to my use, and so the glitch is quite startling.

Please, APPLE - Let's see about having this patch fixed. This is a tremendous glitch in the new iOS6 update.

I have encountered the same issue. The worst is when I hit snooze on my alarm and the Podcast app begins playing.

I can replicate issue of a podcast starting to play after a phone call when:

• Podcast app is running in the background, but i was not actually listening to a podcast prior to the call
• I receive a phone call (phone was in a locked state)
• I plug in my headphones during a phone call
• Phone call ends and a podcast starts playing

I have not been able to consistantly replicate it when I hit snooze. However, it does appear to only occur when the Podcast app is running in the background. If I close it out the podcast app completely, it does not occur.

I have a 32gig, iPhone 4 on AT&T, iOS 6

Worst bug ever. Wildly disruptive and EXCLUSIVELY happens at the absolute worst times. This bug is an embarrassment for Apple and I hope they remedy it soon.

Hi I upgraded to iOS 6 on my iPhone 4S and have observed a bug. Here are the steps involved:

1) Listen to a podcast on headphones and then pull headphones out of headphone socket.

2) Recieve a phone call

3) Upon ending the phone call, the previous podcast will now start playing through the loudspeaker!

Same with my iPhone 3GS. Ending a call or declining a call will cause this to happen. I have had this happen after pulling out my headphones or unpluggins from my car, then declining a call, the podcast starts playing from the speaker.

I have had this happen more often. Also, the podcast app has started playing during calls a lot lately. It starts playing during a call through my bluetooth headset. The only way I found to stop it from playing it to end my call, then I am able to stop it from playing. The call the person back. They were not able to hear the podcast playing.

I have this very same issue - I called Apple support and they had no documentation of this bug. Whenever my Podcast app is running in the background, even with a podcast paused and NOT running at the time of a phone call, once the call is completed, the Podcast app instantly plays the queued podcast.

And I agree - this happens always at the most awkward times.

I do hope Apple carefully reviews this glitch.

This bug is extremely annoying. It starts playing the podcast over the speaker after a call!! The podcast was paused from via bluetooth from my vehicle when I arrived at work. An hour or so later I answered a call. When the call was over and I hung up, SURPRISE the podcast STARTS PLAYBACK AT HIGH VOLUME. 😟 Very annoying!

I just had the application do the same thing after using an application which used the microphone and speaker (Voxer); when the application went into the background -- SURPRISE the podcast STARTS PLAYBACK AT HIGH VOLUME!

The random playback over the speak needs to get fix ASAP.

For me, it is an annoyance- but I don't get many phone calls when not already listening to podcasts, and my podcasts tend to be rather nerdy anyhow (only affirming why I am the IT guy here ).

This is my behavior, and what I reported to Apple:

Locked phone; recieve call. Turn on BT headset, converse. End call. Paused podcast starts. Podcast app takes a few seconds to respond to commands to pause.

The podcast is loud becuase the speaker is set for a higher volume (independant controls from the headphone settings). You could lower the volume and see if that helps.

I am not sure the whole point of the podcasts app in the first place; seems like a rather pointless side-venture to me.

Thanks for submitting the bug to Apple. I just assumed it had already been done, and really didn't know how to do it myself. I'm not crazy about the podcast app either. It also has a problem with the listing when hooking up via cable to my car stereo, the podcast listings don't match up to the folders on the head-unit... didn't have this problem prior to ios6.

Adding myself in here as having the app start playing when ending a call. I downloaded the app and deleted it the same day because of it. I get too many phone calls for work and am on-call this week. I can't have my podcasts keep starting after EVERY call.

I have this same issue. I've also noticed that sometimes, the podcast controls are available on the lock screen, and have accidentally hit the play button on the lock screen while trying to get my phone out of my purse, blaring music in the middle of a meeting. The controls come up randomly and I don't know how to replicate it. I think bringing the controls up with some combination of touches may be convenient, but I have no idea what that is, or how to turn those controls off. I actually like having the podcasts separate - I listen to a lot of them, and it was a pain to have to go through the "More" feature in the Music app. Also, the new podcast app makes it a lot easier to subscribe to podcasts and allow for automatic downloads, which I *love*! Now, if only my out of control play issues can get resolved...

Ok, I'm an idiot. Forget the thing about the controls. A quick google search made it clear to me that two home button touches will pull it up. But I still have the issue with the auto play after phone calls, as well.

My bug report was closed, as it was a duplicate- so there are others out there reporting the problem. Also, the reviews on iTunes are...unkind to say the least.

I noticed a battery drain on my iPhone since getting this app (or possibly iOS 6, not sure about the exact timing or cause).

I manually turned off the sync for each podcast, and it seemed to have helped.

I also manually closed the app.

I just turned on the auto-download for each podcast; and then turned off the app after 5 minutes. So if this helps, it might be a decent work around.

The last thing I am trying is I set my iTunes to check daily, rather than hourly for podcasts. Since the app lacks any controls, I am wondering if it is getting at least some data from iTunes on the computer.

Closing the app when done might also help with it turning itself on when you hang up.

My podcast app also has trouble with keeping the number of episodes per podcast right. I am currently trying to keep the # set to keep on iTunes the same as the app. So far, mixed results on that.

I too have noticed a tremendous drain on my battery - but I chalked it up to iOS6 - that's good to know about your use, as well.

I don't have a problem manually shutting down the app but in doing so, at least in my experience, the App doesn't remember what podcast I was listening to - so I have to recall which podcast and which episode I was on, each time I manually close.

I have noticed the reviews - and it's shocking an Apple app is getting such horrible reviews.
