I need to get a receipt for my purchase.
Why is it so cumbersome to get an answer about this?

It can take one or two days (even up to a week) to get a receipt sent to you for a purchase you have made in the App Store.
I purchased an App on the 20th, I didn't get the receipt sent to me until the 27th.
You just need to be patient.
If you want you can contact iTunes Support here: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/.
But you will still need to wait for an answer.
WOW!!! Why is Apple the only place that doesn't give you a recepit at the time of purchase? Who's dumb idea was that?
Thanks for the response though.
The problem, is that you never get an order number right away. They are often left open for a bit. The reason I've been told is that some people like to buy 1000 items at a time, ONE BY ONE while sitting at their computer (songs for example).
So Apple decides to do some wacky algorithm (can't post it here) that throws in a timeline as well, as to what to group under one order number, and what under another.
You should receive email confirmations for all media purchased from the Mac App and iTunes Stores.
Check your Junk mail folder just in case.
The email confirmation is considered your receipt which is usually received within 24 to 48 hours from date of purchase.
Thanks everyone for the feedback and info. Just a pain when I'm trying to expense purchases and I have to wait for the receipt. I was trying to get it in before the billing cycle, but I guess I'll just have to wait until the next cycle and be patient. I guess I shouldn't criticize the great golden gated community that is Apple. They must have a logicial reason for delaying receipts, and questioning such logic is foolhearted and shortsited. That whole 1,000 purchases at a time does make sense, so I will still believe in Apple.
Thanks everyone.
All hail emperor Apple!!
Unfortunatelly, most the BIG decisions of Apple tend to have no logic in them what-so-ever.... so I fear you are a bit too kind đ
