I reset the iPhone (press and hold the 02 buttons) and when re - started it could charge, that has worked the two times i got this problem. for me looks like a bug.

Thanks tio, this worked for my iPhone 5s that stopped charging after my last sync. I got red when inserting the my original Apple charger with about 19% battery left. One reset and I got green again at first try.

I tried cleaning it out with an X-acto knife as per someone's suggestion. While this did help a little, I still have to hold my d11ck just right to get a charge out of it. Often I have to angle the charger into the port, wrap the cord around the phone for tension, and then sit the phone on top of the cord to keep that tension, unless I wanted to hold the wire in place for 2 hours while it charges from 1%. I think the real issue is that I grabbed the phone without realizing it was still on the charger and this caused some alterations to the inside of the port. Nevertheless, this is just one more chapter in my soon to be released book called "1000 Reasons To Hate iPhone Since Steve Jobs Died".

I Seem to have a different problem with charging my iPhone 5s. Sometimes when I plug it in it starts buzzing and then a message pops up saying this device may not be an authentic device (or something like that). We are only using Apple cables and chargers. My husband and I each have one. He's having no problem with his phone. If I tried the other charger it would work. Last night they both did the same thing. Tried a different outlet and still the same thing. Tried to clean the port there was nothing there. Finally plugged into my computer and its charging there. Anyone ever have this problem?

Anyone whos Lightning cable doesn't appear to fit very well or they have to wiggle to get it working, you have compressed fluff in the socket! Remove it with a paperclip (a plastic coated one is probably best from a non-conductive point of view) or any other small pointy object. You'll be surprised how much comes out! You should not be able to see any of the metal of the connector between the phone and the connector plastic. I have to clean mine out about every 3 months (I have the phone in my pocket upside down).

Worked like a charm! I was about to go to the Apple Store. Thank you!
