Jul 14, 2014 12:17 PM in response to dbrienzaby Sarah E F,I hope all of you who have this issue have owned your phone less than 12 months. I have owned my iPhone 5 slightly longer than 12 months, now the battery not recharging is 'my problem' and I need to buy a new phone to replace it myself.
Hope all the rest of you have better luck. Please be aware, that I originally thought it was a power cord issue also, I replaced my power cord several times during the first year, it has only now gotten to the point that no power cord seems to work.

Aug 4, 2014 1:13 AM in response to tafflesby JK5541,Same problem, no lint, used 5 different charge leads four original apple one non-standard, the phone just shows the battery with a thin red line and the power icon, when I remove the lead the icon disappears and when I put it in the icon shows again. It has charged once in two weeks (I've been away on a cruise ship - not the time you want your phone to break down) but only to 35% and then after that the battery just drains to 0 even with the charge lead plugged in and the charge icon in the display. Tried hard reset no joy, taking it to a Genius Bar today fortunately its in warranty only 7 months old, but come on Apple, I think this must be a glitch of some description. I could not do a restore as wifi on ship (no laptop or iTunes present either) was awful and the phone asks to be plugged into a power source whilst doing the restore, back since Sunday, phone has been constantly plugged in to UK power source still nothing. We took with us four iPhones (one 4s and one 4 plus another 5s and a iPad) and they all charged so I couldn't even blame the ships electricity supply.
I work for myself so the last thing I was whilst I was away was to lose connection, its been a bad experience, we'll see what they say today.

Aug 4, 2014 5:47 AM in response to tafflesby JK5541,Just an earlier update to my battery / won't charge issue, the lint thing is a good point but if the problem persists get it replaced - if you can of course, mine was 7 months old and wouldn't boot past the battery icon, Apple have replaced my handset under warranty. I think from the replies to this question there must be a issue somewhere. Anyway I'm glad mine was in warranty, there seems to be people who may not have been so lucky.

Nov 18, 2014 8:05 PM in response to tafflesby fefewg42qef,I cleaned the charging port out with a safety pin, you would be surprised how much lint was in it. I thought i got all of it and it still wasn't charging... I went back at it again and to my surprise there was even more lint! You really need to get in there and work around for a while. Plugged it in and now its charging.

Apr 7, 2015 1:14 AM in response to StueyMonsterby Richard Jowitt,Thanks very much Stu. This worked a treat for me.
I cleaned out the bottom of the connector with a pin and now the phone is charging again. I must admit though, 2 days of no iPhone was kind of a blessing in disguise though
Thanks again for the tip!

Apr 30, 2015 9:16 PM in response to StueyMonsterby KGillette,I have an iPhone 5c, and I believe that this is my problem. My iPhone won't charge no matter what power cable I use and I have tried rebooting it. In order to get my phone to charge, I have to jiggle the cord around in the charging port. But it is extremely finicky. It could take probably at least a dozen or two tries sometimes to get it to start charging, and after it finally does, it is not uncommon for the charge to come on and off repeatedly on its own. I have also tried cleaning out the charging port but to no avail. This issue is starting to drive me insane a little bit.
