A friend updated her phone number and after she texted me, I added the new number to her contact and deleted the old one. When I go to start a new message (not a continuation) both numbers still show up. I tried deleting the contact entirely and both numbers continue to show up. I sync my contacts with iCloud, but I went in to update that as well. Still have the same problem. This is driving me crazy. Someone please help. I'm running iOS 6 on an iPhone 4S.
When you go to start a new message lokk if there is a blue arrow besides the number. If there is press it and choose "delete from recents". Sorry for my English.
What are you referring to? There is never a blue arrow next to a contact name whrn strting a message.
For me existed 3-4 old numbers. When appears by "auto-fill" there was a blue arrow and allowed me to "remove from recents".

From Google. I don't have "orphans" recents any more.
This looks like your doing an email. I get the old number when sending a text message. Email will only get you email addresses not phone numbers.
has there been any fix for this issue? I get the same thing when I want to send a text/message it wants to autofill and shows a ton of contacts that I no longer have in my contact list, how do I clean them up show the old contacts do not appear?

Apple doesn't comment here. In order to delete the cache that contains the old information, you will need to restore the phone as new.
