If you just don't want to see the call notification on your home screen go to Settings, Notification, Phone and turn Notification Center to Off. Or you can simply select None and calls will be listed in the Notification center but you won't see a banner / alert on the home screen.
This also eliminates the Caller ID from being displayed before you answer the call.

You don't. It's a phone.
You can put it in airplane mode or turn it off. That will prevent incoming calls from displaying. It will also prevent you from placing calls or sending/receiving SMS/MMS messages
This would come in extremely handy if you were videoing... The on screen stops any you're filming and when you're videoing the grandbabys first steps and the video is stopped for a call when you turned off notifications it *****!!!
I too wish for this. Too often, a phone call totally interrupts what I'm doing!! Like @Allensgirl said, you could be recording something or doing something else and you're TOTALLY interrupted by the phone call taking over your screen completely! How dare it think it's so important! 😠😝 Why can't we have the option for a call show up as banner notification (like a text message or any other notification)? After all, a cell phone these days is no longer used entirely as a phone, but more like a mini computer more and more (photo/video editing, playing games, reading books, etc.), so WHY does the phone completely take over the screen when the user could be doing something important?!?! I would love for a call to show up as a notification, and then I could swipe up to ignore/send to voicemail, swipe down to reply with a text message (noting that you're busy), etc. I tried looking in notifications in iOS 10 settings to see if this was currently possible, but it is not. I looked this up, and it appears that lots of people jailbreak their phones just to have this ability, but I'd rather Apple did it so I don't have to jailbreak my phone. I'm obviously not the ONLY person who wishes this...

Turn your phone off!
Why you would want your phone to not display a phone call is beyond me. It's like having a light bulb but not wanting it to light up when you turn it on
If you need to ring only i'm afraid you can't.
Actually, you are right, but activating the new Do not Disturb feature works as well assuming iOS 6 is installed. Nevertheless, the phone must be in sleep mode for DND to work.
Unless you mean the notification that a call has been rcvd? In wich case go to notification center and choose none for phone. Otherwise you can turn it face down.
If you are running iOS 6 you can use the "Do not disturb" option.
or just divert all your calls to voice mail, why you would want to this this is beyond me though.
DND will only stop calls from coming through if the phone is in standby. If the screen is unlocked, it assumes you're actively interacting with the phone and can take a call.
You do realize that this thread is over 6 years old? And that Apple does not monitor this forum? So no one here can do anything about your wish.
