My new iPhone won't sync to iTunes?

What iOS is the iPhone on and what iTunes are you running on your PC?

iOS 5 requires OS X 10.5 8 or higher and iTunes 10.6.

iOS 6 requires OS X 10.6.8 or higher and iTunes 10.7.

What versions of OS X and iTunes are you running on your Mac?

I'm using ios 6 on my iphone 4s and itunes 10.7.0.21 (pc) and can't get it to sync either. Getting desperate!

What happens when you try?

it says sync failed to start. in the itunes wifi sync on the phone it says sync will resume when my laptop is available, which it is, not sure what to make of that.

You sync over Wi-fi or cable?

Turn off WiFi Sync and sync via cable, does it work that way? If so, then you have a communication problem on your wireless network. The laptop and the phone are both joined to the same wireless network, right?

cable which is why I'm a bit thrown by that part of things.

Whoa that worked!! Makes no sense but it worked. What a flaming PITA if I have to turn off the wifi everytime I sync. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

You've managed to turn on WiFi Sync. Turn it off. If it looks like it is off, turn it on, then back off again.

I didn't mean turn off WiFi. I meant turn off WiFi Sync.

I have noticed a WiFi sync quirk associated with IOS-6. The computer's iTunes will recognize my iPod only if it is NOT connected to a charger. My iPad is original and is still on IOS-5. It functions properly.

I am soooo tired of this problem, having to turn on off on off connect, disconnect. Why can't iphone work consistently in 2012 for $600?!?

Did you try syncing with the iPhone disconnected from the charger?
