Lost connection while downloading a book. Can't get it to finish after reconnecting. Status says downloading but nothing happens

I lost Internet connection while downloading a book through iBook app. Now it won't finish. If I go to the iBook store, the status says "downloading" I can't delete it or get it to download. Anyone have a suggestion?

iPad, iOS 6

Same thing happened to me. Here is how I solved it, finally. To remove the stub of a book on the iPad, I synched the device with iTunes on my computer. I made sure I removed the checkmark next to the book in question on the Books tab. When the device finished synching, the book had been fully removed from the iPad. Then I just went back to the store on the iPad and was able to easily download it. Whew!

I tried this. I synced my iPhone with computer and unchecked the book stuck downloading. Synced it again, and when I went to my iPhone the book was still in there and still trying to download. I am going to ry again, but the book stuck on my phone won't go away. I would just like to delete the thing. I think it keeps trying to download and drains the battery on my phone.
