Mountain Lion Recovery Prohibition Sign

I downloaded the Mountain Lion Recovery Disk Assistant, installed it onto a USB drive, but when I boot it off the thumb drive I get the prohibition sign.

MacBook Pro Early 2011 (13 inch), i5, 8GB RAM and 500GB HD.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8)
