Problem doing a factory restore - won't connect to the network - (-6) Any ideas?

We have the first generation Apple tv. For some strange reason, we cannot access anything but our already purchased movies and tv shows. Called for help and was told to reset settings. Did that and then did a factory restore. Now it is saying that there was a problem connecting to the network ( -6). Not sure if the number is a special problem. Any ideas?
