Hi - I know this is years later, but I had the same problem and it absolutely was not on the device because I purposely deleted it, thinking it would be easy to get it back. I have since solved the problem but FWIW, this was not true for me ...
How were you able to do it? This just happened to me and I cannot figure out how to restore it.
I deleted my calendar and looked at help and the last response to thus was 2012 and I tried resetting my home page and it didn't come back. What can I do
Restore a built-in app that you removed
From Remove built-in Apple apps from the Home screen on your iOS device with iOS 10 - Apple Support
You can't delete it. Look on all your screens and inside all your folders. If you still can't find it go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout. This will restore the home screen to its original configuration but may move other apps around to do so.
You cannot delete the calendar app. You probably moved it to another screen or put it a folder by accident. Do a Search iPhone (from the first page of the homescreen swipe right.)

Five years ago, when this thread was last active, it was not possible to remove the preinstalled apps. That has since changed. This is an excellent example of why there is often little value in resurrecting threads that have been dormant for this long.
I apologize. Obviously I didn’t know this. It would be great if Apple could close threads when they are no longer relevant! That said, the response just above yours worked and I’ve been “restored.” Thanks for writing — I’ll try to be more mindful of this potential in the future.

The sheer volume of threads makes that impractical. Just be mindful of the dates. And, if you have a question about something older that you read, by all means start your own thread. People will be happy to help clarify.
Best of luck.
Thank you so much this was so helpful.
The last response in this thread prior to yours from from July 2017.
See my response in this thread from February 7 of this year for the instructions on how to restore the app.
Ok I got it. Ask. How do I put it on the first page and can I get my stuff back in it. I just made plans for Europe
