how do i free up RAM?
Does anyone know the proper way to free up RAM in an efficient manner?
MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), Looking at the activity monitor...
The KB article you read pretty much explains everything. The Mac uses memory as it is required, and correctly written apps release it when it is not.
Lion / ML uses memory extremely efficiently, but will aggressively use whatever it can to optimize your Mac's performance.
Do you have reason to believe something is not working the way it should? What is it?
