Factory unlocked iPhone 4s

Hey people, I am not really into tehnology, so i need help 🙂

I am from Europe, wanted to buy iPhone 4s for my lil brother,so I am wonedering if he should be use it there if I buy "factory unlocked"? What does it actually mean, that I have to get some pin or code when I buy it? And what is gevey card?

Some tips could help too, what are most important things that I have to check while buying this phone for overseas 🙂?

Factory unlocked means that it isn't tied down to any network, So you can have your provider in the US like Sprint or Verizon, or Att, and be able to use the phone on any Gsm network overseas or on att or t-mobile US which is not really permited.


To get the phone factory unlocked you have to a) buy it outright from apple, or b) get it under contract from any carrier and meet certain conditions for that carrier to unlock the device for you. I believe it is a code that is used to unlock it.
