QUAD Crashing

OK you G5 geniuses ...

At least 2-3 times a week I have full-on lock-up of my QUAD [w/3 GB or RAM]. When I say lock-up, I mean I cannot do anything. The the only way to remedy the situation is to do a hard-restart. I would love to reinstall the OS, but I have a major deadline in 4 weeks so this is not going to happen - yet. Is there any other reason this could be happening. Should I rebuild my boot disk with disk warrior? Any ideas?

Yes, try running DW. You may have some bad sectors on your hard drive. This can cause freezes. You would need to reformat to fix that. If your mouse freezes, try unplugging it for a few seconds and plug it back it. See if you can regain control.

Bad sectors ... yes I was thinking that might be it, but as you say, I'd need to reformat and write zeros to the disk to bypass them. I may just wait until I toss a Raptor in as a boot drive. In the meantime, I'll try DW and see what happens. I'm starting to lose work as a result of this which is pi$$ing me off. I would have reinstalled the OS when I received the quad, but again ... a major deadline was looming.

Any other thoughts out there ...?
