So, as the title says I can ping any kind of ip address, but I cannot ping or browse the internet using domain names. I have tried a lot of different solutions but no success. please let me know if you guys need more info regarding this problem. Everything change since I upgraded to Mountain Lion.
Your problem is probably with DNS.
Is the server you are trying to ping on the same local area network (house/office) as the computer you are trying to ping from?
If you host your own DNS on the server - and have the server name set up on the DNS server with the internal ip address - make sure your DNS server's internal ip is set up as the primary DNS server within Network Preferences --> <network interface (e.g. Ethernet or Wifi; unlock if locked)> --> Advanced --> DNS Tab: Under DNS Servers.
Do you have a program called Little Snitch installed? Can you browse websites by name? No you can't 🙂
Something might be blocking port 53 UDP...
