Can the small circular globe speakers which came with the anglepoise iMac, but which have a non-standard plug, be adapted for use as external speakers for a MacBook?

There was a Griffin product, the iFire, that did so. It's discontinued but you may find it on an auction site or in stores that sell off old technology. Info is still o the Griffin site here::

Other than that, I don't know of a way to use them. I have a pair still in the box. Nice speakers but hard to make work without that Griffin gadget.

The prices I've seen on the iFire when I've spotted one for sale (they don't come up very often) have been so high as to make it more practical to just buy a new set of speakers.
