I haven't heard of any 3D consumer level video cameras, so the content must be produced commercially, is copyrighted and most likely has been copy protected/cracked/P2Ped and now your asking us how to play it back on your Mac/AppleTV in violation of this sites rules of conduct with easily established id's and IP addresses where the stolen content can be found.
This is a open forum, the results of these posts are almost immediately indexed by Google's spiders, making it incredibly easy for the MIAA to find your post, which they then can send a supoena to Apple for your IP address, then to your ISP for your exact name and address, compare your IP to those they record P2P-ing online.
I can't say if Apple will cooperate with the MIAA or not, they do sell movie content thus the MIAA does have some leverage, Apple could ask the MIAA not to disclose their involvement in locating you, the MIAA could lie and say they saw you P2P-ing the content.
If your scared, that's good, it's a heck of a lot less expensive than a lawsuit over some stupid free movies.
Why would you automatically assume that it's being done illegal? I personally ripped all of my DVD's store bought or otherwise into my MAC PRO so that I can use APPLE TV for what it's legally there for and promotes. If I have a 3D movie and would like to play it on a TV with APPLE TV as opposed to having to purchase a BLU-RAY 3-D player for each TV and drag my DVD's from room to room to play them.
I am allowed to back up my purchases from physical to digital format. I am NOT allowed to share them of course. So the question still remains... Can you play 3D content through ATV?
Apple's not necessarily assuming it's illegal -- it's just that the terms of service for this discussion board explicitly outline that you can't discuss circumventing digital rights management (DRM) here. Commercial DVDs are locked down with DRM. If you talk about circumventing it by ripping a commercial DVD, the post will likely be removed.
Hey, if you bothered to google "consumer 3d camera" you might not have written that post.
I want to know the answer to this question also. Since you're not aware of any consumer level 3D cameras I'll help you out - search Fuji Finepix Real 3D. I just bought mine second hand - they've been around a little while now. Panasonic brought out one of their first in 2010. You can also hook up two GoPro cameras with their 3D kit. There are others, but you get the point. There are also A LOT of pros who own macs that might want to view thier own film on Apple TV... and now there are now loads of people with consumer cameras who want to watch their own content on their tv.
So... can someone who actually knows something about this subject perhaps give us an answer?
