My iPhone 5 / iOS 6 is unable to open .ics calendar meeting invites. How do I resolve this issue?
My email is a POP 3 email setup on the Google Apps sever. Any ideas?

I couldn't get an answer, so I just used Google Sync and accepted meetings on my Outlook. They ended up sync'd with my iPhone. Although strangely, the iPhone has started taking calendar requests properly which come across email. I'm not sure, but the Google Sync workaround is pretty effective. Although, I'm not sure it's free any longer.
