I have a MacBook Pro and my dad has an iPhone. We are both connceted to the same iMessage account therefore he gets my iMessages. I made a new iTunes acount. Could anyone please tell me how to sign out of my dad's account and sign into mine... on the MacBook Pro that doesn't have iMessage in the settings. I'm not sure which update it is.

This worked for me:
1. Open up Messages (make it the active window)
2. Hit command-comma (for the preferences)
3. Navigate to the accounts tab, and select the account you want to log out.
4. Hit the button that says Sign Out, or if you're not on the latest update of OSX, hit the big central button with account details on it.
5. Hit the Sign Out button, then quit the program.

I don't have messages in my settings and i dont have a preferance menu when I go to messages. 😟 thanks for trying to help though... if you know more about my problem and how to solve it please help me.
Messages>Preferences>Accounts>Sign Out.
Here is the solution:
- Go to https://appleid.apple.com
- Click on "Manage your Apple ID"
- Enter your password
- Click "Phone Number"
- Delete the phone number
- Save changes
