Hazza42 Level 1 Level 1

I've had my iPhone 5 for a few days now and I've noticed this issue more and more. Whenever I wake my iPhone there is a split second where a green glow around the edge of the screen is visible. It's a bit like light leakage but its green and only appears for a fraction of a second after you turn on the screen. It is also sometimes activated by using the slide to unlock, which makes it glow brighter.

Does anyone else have this happening with their new iPhone? I don't know if this is the start of a defect or not... I have had very rare graphical flickering and tearing of the keyboard UI, but that's only happened once or twice and only for a second, as soon as I started typing it went away.

It looks like this might turn into a trip to the Apple store, I just wanted to know if anyone else has noticed this weird phenomenon on their new iPhones.

I tried screenshotting it, but its not picking up the green glow in any of the captures (not surprising).

Here is a quick photoshop to give you an idea of what it looks like:

I have this exact issue. It's weird. It only seems to occur when I'm sliding the slider, and only for a split second. It's very obviously green, and appear to frame the entire display.

It also only seems to happen if the iPhone has been locked for a while. I can't make it happen twice in a row.

Yes! Exactly. I wish I knew more people with the iPhone 5 so I could test theirs to see if its a widespread issue, like the purple lens flares (which I also have =[) I guess the green glow isn't too much of an issue, but it is starting to annoy me!

I wonder if it has something to do with the new integrated touch display? Maybe an apple genius will know...

Same issue here Hazza42, I have noticed it fewe times and can't replicate it.

Wow thats great! I'll give apple a call tonight. I know its just a little issue and I feel kinda spoiled just walking into an Apple store and demanding a new phone because mine glows a bit green sometimes. Although, I did plunk down 600 of my hard earned monies for this thing so I guess I'm allowed to be picky!

@Dannyboy1984 - Did you buy your phone unlocked or thru a carrier?

I have the same problem since the first day. I think its something  to do with the new in cell display technology. Its getting worse day by day, especially when am on a call. Have never ever replaced any Apple product till now, I feel really bad walking into Apple Store and asking for a new one :-(. But got no other option. I hope Apple finds out the real issue with it soon. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.

Everyone try this to duplicate. Slide the slide to unlock the other way and it will do it. Or take your palm and push up across the whole screen. Mine does it replacing it Wednesday.

I have the same issue. Going to give Apple a call about it then, good to know it's not just me though.

Include me on the list. I have noticed this green glow issue almost since the first day.

I would be happy to ignore it, however the issue is becoming more and more pronounced as time goes on.

Whilst not a huge issue I am nervous about the longer term. Looks like ill be going in to the Apple Store :(

    Update!

I went into my local apple store and they asked me to book a genius appointment, so I booked one for the next day. When I turned up the guy seemed really surprised that my iPhone was glowing green, he replaced it right there and then, in and out in 5 minutes =]

My only advice is to book an appointment online rather than just roll in there.

Thats comforting, I just booked an appointment for the weekend a few minutes ago. I'll post my results.

I have seen the artifacts now when the keyboard is up too. I've also now have a new problem where the flash going off after the camera has taken a photo leaving me with very dark images... I called them and they asked me to wipe it and set it up as a new phone and see if I had the same problems for a few hours. Then call them back. Apple Store isn't so close to me, so I'll give this a go.
