I have a 5 year old iMac that I am getting rid because it not running properly, and I want to get a new one. I dont want to just throw it out. What should I do with it? Also can I take it somewhere to erase the hardrive? thanks very much.
Chances are in an Apple re-seller was selling you the new one they would help erase your drive but you can do it yourself. Save what you need to a portable HD then follow the suggestions here ... Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard: How to Erase and Install
Just make sure it is done properly, especially if you sell it on eBay or the like.
