I am using th latest version of iPhoto and it seems I can no longer access my photos.
We have then stored under shared photos so both accounts can access the pictures. It offers to repair them, but when I try that it tells me I can access the file to update.
Any ideas?

Details. If you're on 10.5 then you're not on the latest version of iPhoto. So what version do you have? Where is "shared photos"? Do you mean the Users/Shared folder? What are the exact error messages you get?
I downloaded the last update.
I'll have to post later the exact error, but we have the iPhoto library under shared users.
When I open iPhoto it says error reading file would you like iPhoto to repair, when I select yes it prompts for my password which I provide. Then it tells me it's not able to write to that location.
Then it closes iPhoto.
Then move it from the Shared folder to your Desktop and repair it, then put it back.
