Hello guys,

I have iPhone 4S with OS6. I am using 1 gmail account for e-mails and calendar and 1 gmail account as exchange just for contacts. Then I have 5 IMAP accounts which are causing me troubles.

All these 5 accounts are on 1 domain (big e-mail provider), different usernames. SSL is used, when I save them in Settings, the accounts are correctly verified.

Anyway 3 of 5 accounts work fine, 2 of 5 accounts are reporting me that the connection with the server was not established. I can check the same accounts on my PC without any issue (the same stable Wi-Fi connection). The settings are correct. In the console of iPhone Configuration Utility I can see:

Sep 28 20:55:27 whateverPhone MobileMail[18173] <Warning>: ERROR: MFMessageErrorDomain/Generic - The mail server imap.seznam.cz is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account info in Mail settings.

I tried to follow http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3899 as well http://kb.cadzow.com.au:15384/cadzow/details.aspx?ID=2392 but without any success.

I tried as well to telnet to the server:port without any issue.

Any idea how to use my e-mail accounts on iPhone? All my other phones were able to get e-mails...

Thanks for your support!

Boris

I found the reason/solution for this issue. If your IMAP account contains 0 e-mails in ALL folders (drafts/trash/spam included), then iOS6 will report for this account error The mail server xxx is not responding. It is confusing, annoying. To not face this stupid iOS6 issue, just create a dummy message in your drafts - like "iOSbug do not remove" and the issue will never appear again.

Can you clarify this? Do you mean that every folder must have one or more email, or that at least one folder must have one or more email?

If it's the latter, then I have a different bug. If it's the former, this is indeed a stupid bug. I'll go through my directory tree and try to find a folder that has no messages in it. My IMAP account has thousands of messages, but somewhere there may be an empty folder.

If this is true, though, that means we can never ever empty our Trash? That's not acceptable.

At least 1 folder needs to contain at least 1 message.
