Found youtube video showing ring/silent switch does not stay on silent when it is switched to silent on iPhone 5. Gently touching the switch makes it go from ring to silent when in silent mode. Anyone else having this issue? youTube video comment made it sound like Apple support confirmed this was a quality issue but support said they had not heard of it when I called.

I have that same issue...only that when i press between the silent switch and volume up toggle it spazzes out from vibrate and ringer really fast and many times...Have an appt tomorrow with genius bar and hopefully I get it swapped out
Mine does that as well sometimes. Let me know what they do for you. I have a feeling they are going to ship it back to Apple and I will be without it for a week or so. I'm hoping that tehy replace it.
Went to the apple store and I showed the associate the problem. He took it to the back to open it up and when he returned he swapped it out with a new one

Visited the Apple store yesterday and after about 10 minutes they gave me a new phone. Did not say much if this was a common issue or not but new phone ring/silent switch is working fine now.

Go to Apple store i have similar problem with my lock screen button. They replaced right away. But if you dont have warranty or dont feel like going to the store, go to Settings>General>Accessibility>AssistiveTouch (on). Once you do that a little square will pop up, press it than go to device> Mute. To get rid of that little square go to Settings>General>Accessibility>AssistiveTouch (off)

Hello , I have similar problem where, whenever I try to switch on mute mode it keep continuously toggling between Ringer and Silent state that too vibrating during toggling which is more annoying 'especially' when you are in meetings or don't want disturbance. Last when I went to a local service provider for this issue, they said Apple portal has some service outage and thus could not process my request. That time for sure my phone was in warranty. Now it is not - question is - Whether I will get this issue rectified by Apple or, do I have to pay to get it resolved? Pl revert asap -
Do you carry phone in your pocket? Lint can jam up the switch - use
canned air to blow out around the switch until it clicks positively in
both on and off positions.
