iOS6 has ruined my iPhone!!

The new update has ruined my iPhone 4S. My wifi is greyed out so I can't turn it on. None of my game apps will open. When someone calls me now they cannot her me. And, now my battery drains 100 times faster than it did before the update. No one at apple has released a fix nor commented on these issues which have apparently happened to MANY people. My phone was working perfectly and didn't have a problem until yesterday when I installed the update. Now, I get to spend a few hours of my time, in line at the apple store tomorrow.

Apple, please acknowledge this is an issue and resolve it ASAP. The only letter or acknowledgement has been about Google maps. I can't use any maps now bc my phone is ruined. These updates should be tested on several hundred phones before rolling out to the public to ensure any possible bugs are resolved beforehand. Please do or say something to your customers before you lose more to the android.

iPhone 4S, iOS 6, DO NOT UPDATE TO iOS6!!

In short, troubleshooting tips are useless for the iphone 4s. I have spent hours trying to make my phone work "again" after the update. I can no longer pair with my car, my macbook, my ipad after updating to the new OS. Iphone 4 works but not 4s.

Tim Cook, fix this rather than apologize again. Fixing this might simply be an explanation on the problem, rather having us depend on he said she said conversations. Apple told him that it is this, Apple told her that it was their fault......

eeeaaargh!

Of course Tim Cook or any other bigwigs are not there. Why would they waste their time on these issues when a one minute press release would be much easier than spending hours as you all have to spend defending this upgrade. Doh.

Ok, before I do a full system restore and risk what others have suffered (below), tell me why my iphone 4 upgraded phine but 4s did not? Same upgrade.

Restoring your iPhone will remove all the data on your iPhone. If you have any sensitive data on your phone that wasn't included in your phone's prior backup, be sure to save the information before beginning the restoration process.

After the Ios update crashed it, the system restored to factory settings. When I try to restore it to older backup, it only restored my apps, but nothing else so I've lost all contacts, photos, videos, etc. If anyone knows how to get these back, I would so appreciate it!! Thanks!!!

By iphone4apps8317 on September 27, 2012 | From iphone-4g-3g.com

hi have updated os to 6 on my 4s....i dos'nt seem to have loaded some hardware...

ie maps....personnel hotspot...?....have done a system restore through Itunes

and reloaded it again....still the same

Sep 28, 2012 5:17 PM in response to Joe5150

I decided to start the restore but wanted to do a back up first but.......

iTunes could not back up the iPhone "xxxxx iPhone" because an error occurred.

Is there a way to back up all of the data on my 4s onto my macbook pro?

If there is an easy fix such as you suggest why not let everybody know how to do it at onece it rather than having them googling for days and perhaps finding a solution? A text message?

fyi - more reports on iOS 6 upgrade problems below.

Apple iOS 6 Wi-Fi problems persist for some iDevice owners

By Mikey Campbell

A number of fixes have been suggested, including a hard reset and reinstallation of iOS 6, but the most effective seems to be resetting Network Settings and changing the HTTP Proxy to "Auto."
For those who are seeing a completely grayed out Wi-Fi toggle switch in Settings, a few users have had luck with downgrading to iOS 5.1, suggesting the issue is exclusive to iOS 6. Other members have successfully exchanged their affected iPhones for new hardware after demonstrating the grayed out Wi-Fi option to staff at the Apple Store Genius Bar, though it is unclear if handset replacement is the usual course of action.
When iOS 6 was released on Sept. 19, a number of early adopters suffered from Wi-Fi issues, however Apple was able to trace the problem back to a downed verification page which was quickly repaired.

Well Appletini, (I hope you do not represent apple, because my appreciation for sarcasm would not be appreciated in that case)

If you are familiar with the bluetooth issues, would you answer my question regarding why the iPhone 4 bluetooth works but not iPhone 4s with my car navigation system, even though both have upgraded to iOS6? I would find it easier to go through the additional recoemmendations if I understood why they are necessary, especially since I apparantly cannot back up my iphone now.

1- Nobody has suggested I go to the genius bar so I am not "overdramatic about having to go to an apple retail store" such as you sarcastically suggest.

2- I have tried numerous solutions over the past week and though I am tired of chasing down 'maybe this will work' suggestions, I will not give up easily since I have been an apple fan and shareholder for years.

3- I am in the process of trying the solution recommened by Joe but have run into difficulties as you must have read.

4- It is hard for me to believe a solution is awaiting at my genius bar when so many others have had no luck with their genius bar suggestions, but that is in my plan in a week or so if no solutions are found online.

Some find an answer that completely works for them like 're-pair', others go through a good bit of effort and find partial success, e.g. music but no controls. Others are told it is their products' manufacturers who need to resolve this. Many like myself sit and wait for a helpful suggestion that works. Since the upgrade I performed on both phones is only weeks old I have not rushed to the genius bar but did expect more answers here and/or on google searches. Seems like finger pointing and fairly useless suggestions are the rule of the day.

Same answer do a restore as a NEW PHONE , forget the backup apparently some line of code is corrupt on your phone or your backup. The only thing an apple genius is going to do for you is.... a restore. One question, when you first updated to IO6 was it over the air or a download onto your computer and was your 4s ever JB.

Sep 28, 2012 9:54 PM in response to Joe5150

Hi Joe,

I did as you suggested and did a "restore as a NEW PHONE" and my iphone can now make calls from my car. I do have some clean up work to tend to such as all the icons scattered outside folders, find photos and music but I understand this should be fairly simple concerning the music and photos.

Thanks again Joe for nudging me towards the needed fix.

I wish it would not have been this difficult and hope there are not many folks with similar issues... I guess it was a bad line of code? How does a line of code go bad?

Well, I have my music on my phone now (a few thousand songs). My contacts and other info I will deal with tomorrow or maybe I should sat later this morning since it approaches tomorrow this hour.

Point being made, this is tedious but appears to be the only way for some of us having the iOS6 blues tunes.

Depending on how you value your time, it wouldn't take too many hours to justify and new iphone and start from scratch.

Hmmm, I did not anticipate 85 updates to my apps.... again.

Thanks everyone. Yes, I'm well aware that it's a user forum. And, as a user, I'm voicing my opinion and frustration.

I have done a restore, to factory settings, I've done a restore from back-up as well. None of these work. After reading several hundred other threads of users experiencing the same issue, the only resolution was to take it to the apple store. Most have had to have their phones replaced. This is a major issue that apple needs to address.

As for waiting in line at the apple store, Appletini6, you obviously haven't been on a weekend. I can assure you it is not overly dramatic. If you feel that it is, you are more than welcome to not read and/or participate in the discussion I created in regards to voicing my opinions/feelings.

No my phone is not JB. It was working just fine before this upgrade. I did the upgrade from my phone as normal. The moment it restarted after installing the upgrade, my Wifi was greyed out. Apple should have tested this on many, many phones BEFORE rolling it out to everyone. This issue is random but there are many other problems with the upgrade as well.
