After updating to 10.7.5 Steinberg Cubase Artist 6.5 crashes at startup.
I updated to 10.7.5 recently, and Steinberg Cubase Artist 6.5 crashes when the splash screen (with the message "Loading GUI Resources") comes up on the screen. (I am running a MacBook Pro, late 2011.)
I spent several days with Steinberg support trashing preferences and reinstalling CA and relevant updates. At the end, the senior tech told me to contact Apple, advising me that I needed to reinstall my OS and basically start over on my computer. (He kept saying that my system was "weird" but wouldn't elaborate much further, except to say that the fact that the ".app" displayed on my applications and that my windows displayed in list view were "red flags" that something was wrong.)
I don't use Time Machine (I backup manually), so I can't just step backwards. So far, only CA and another Steinberg product (HALion Sonic, which I don't really use) crash upon startup. Everything else seems to work. Is there anything I can do that is less drastic than a total reinstallation? Should I upgrade to 10.8.2 instead, or would that make it worse? Can I do a clean installation with 10.8.2?
The only other oddity I can find is that when I repair my disk permissions, it appears that I keep having to repair the same ones every time. As I recall they all have to do with display preferences or preference panes.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
