1920x1440? Where did that come from?

My thunderbolt display won't scale to 1920x1080, where I would expect this scaled option is replaced by 1920x1440. What gives? Sometimes I would really like to scale to 1080p.

My config is:

2011 mac mini i7 2.7GHz w/ 8GB RAM

AMD Radeon HD 6630M

OS X 10.8.2

Thunderbolt 27"

Any ideas? Is there any way I can force a resolution that doesn't appear available?

Cheers,

Sean

I gave switchxres a shot - and you can change so much that I'm actually going to have to read the manual. To use for 10 days is free - $22 for a license. And, yes, you can set your ATD to 1920x1080 (with a slew of other options). Download and give it a try - if I find that I use it within the next ten days, I'm going to pay for it.

Thanks a bunch... Better a small cost solution than no solution. This is really odd though, I can't be alone in this thought... am I?

The Thunderbolt Display is 16x9, it just seems strange to me that if someone wanted to use a scaled resolution that 1920x1080 would be an obvious option. It makes no sense to me that it would not be available yet 1920x1440 would.

Thanks again.

Cheers,

Sean
