iPhone 5 Unlocked in the UK?

Hey guys, so i wanted to buy the new iPhone 5 UNLOCKED.

Since paying monthly installments AND an upfront fee just costs too much over time and i would prefer one upfront cost.

However its out of stock in nearly all phone shops such as carphone warehouse and o2 so i wanted to know if they were available in the Apple Store unlocked.

For example, could i just want into the Apple Store tomorrow, then go to the que and simple ask and pay for an iPhone 5 at the counter?

I phoned up a store near to where i live and the customer assistant had told me to make a reservation, but i dont know if its compulsary to make a reservation if you want to purchase an iPhone 5 unlocked in store.

P.S i live in London in the UK, i heard Apple are selling unlocked iPhone 5's in stores in France and Canada but is it the same case for the UK?

I also sent a reservation form yesterday and have had no reply, so should i go into central London to try my luck? As i've heard cases of people queing for hours in store and being refused by the staff in selling UNLOCKED iPhone 5's.
