It should be in the Music app (iBooks is for books and iTunes on an iOS device is just the iTunes store) - if there are audiobooks on your iPhone then you should get an Audiobooks option on the More button in the Music app

Thanks, King_Penguin.  You were right. It sure isn't very intuitive.  By they way, I wonder why the music app and iTunes are separate.  Pretty confusing.

I will not disagree with you that separating iTunes and the Music player would be confusing to a lot of new users, but that is the way that iOS works. iTunes is merely a link to the iTunes Store and the Music App plays your music and audiobooks.

When did you download it ? If you've just downloaded it in and it's not showing in the Music app then have you tried closing the Music app via the iPad's multitasking bar and seeing if it shows when you re-open the app, and/or tried a soft-reset of your iPad ?

If it was downloaded a while ago, before you updated to iOS 7, then have you tried synced it back from your computer's iTunes and seeing it then shows in Music ?

so the weird thing is that the option "audiobooks" does not appear in the "more" options under by music app.  I shut down the ipad and rebooted and it is still not there.  I downloaded the audiobook last night, my ipad updated to ios 7 a few months ago.  also audiobooks option does not appear on my iphone 5 either.  should I reload the music app?

Not sure what you mean by 'reload the music app' - you can't delete a built-in app, you can only close it via the taskbar and/or resync your content to it. The audiobooks option will only show if there are audiobooks on the iPad and iPhone, if there aren't any then it won't show. You could try resyncing the book to them

not sure how to resync the book   When I go onto itunes store , using my ipad, and click on the book it says its downloaded.  If I go to my iphone and go to itunes store and go to the book I can purchase it ,but it says that I have already purchased it and do I want to buy it again, which I don't

    help?

You won't be able to redownload audiobooks without paying again, they are one-time only downloads (though you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will grant a re-download). Do you have a copy of the audiobook in the Books (Audiobooks if using a Mac with OS X Mavericks) part of your computer's iTunes library ? If you do then should be abel to try connecting the iPad to your computer and syncing from there to your iPad.

I had similar troubles on my iPhone 5 (iOS 7) with some audiobooks. Tried redownloading, reported problems, etc.  nothing worked. Even more confusing, I could 'see' it in the On This IPhone in iTunes, but couldn't even see the audiobooks button in iTunes (on the phone).

I ended up searching for it by name, from my iPhone home screen (by swiping down, it may be called spotlight?), and where it reads 'Search this iPhone', I just started typing the name of the book, and there it was.

Not the most elegant solution, but so far all three of the books that I've bought are there.

Silly me, that makes perfectly good sense!  I panicked there for a bit.  Thank you!
