Sep 28, 2012 7:21 PM in response to aattarianby CRMDVM,Hi - first of all I have never heard of needing a cross over cable with any kind of modem so I would call Cocmast back and ask for a different person - if your Extreme is configured properly, then you have to first unplug it and then power down the modem - if it has a battery, you have to remove it, wait 30 seconds, replace the battery and then plug in the modem - it may take a few minutes to reboot - then plug in the Extreme and you should get a green light after a minute or so - if not post back and report what the light is doing

Sep 28, 2012 8:55 PM in response to aattarianby Philly_Phan,I connected an Express to the Comcast modem. Took me all of three minutes.
I'm a great believer in the KISS principle.
Configuration is simple if you start from a factory default condition. Then connect the Airport to AC power and finally to the Internet modem (or modem/router). Open Airport Utility on your Mac or other computer and accept all of the recommendations. After confirming that it works, insert your desired administrative and WiFi passwords.
Do not expect the Airport to respond instantly to the configuration commands. BE PATIENT!
