TS4425: Apple TV: Photo Stream unavailable after updating Apple TV software

Learn about Apple TV: Photo Stream unavailable after updating Apple TV software

Q: I don't have an iOS device other than my Apple TV - is there a way to accept the new TOS?

Apple clearly states how to accept the iCloud terms of service with an iPad or iPhone/iPod.  How do I do this with my MacBook or Apple TV to re-enable Photostream on the Apple TV?

I seem to have discovered a couple solutions - some with better results than others.

    1) Some people report success with a restore of their Apple TV.  (This did _not_ work for me)

    2) Others had luck changing country within iTunes or iDevices, see link below (I did not try this)

    3) If you have access to a Vista or Windows 7 PC, download and install iCloud control panel and sign in (which for me prompted me with the new TOS)

    Hope this helps some people.

Here is what worked for me:

I have an Apple TV 2nd generation and an iPod 3rd generation which can't be upgraded to iOS 6.

    1. On the iPod, I went to Settings -> Store -> Apple ID -> View Apple ID

    2. Click on Country/Region and change to another country and enter a valid address.

    3. Repeat the process to switch back to your original country.  Both switches will ask you to accept the Terms of Service for that country.

    4. Don't stop here.  Now go to Settings -> iCloud and the new iCloud Terms of Service will finally come up.  Click Agree.

    5. Go back to the Apple TV and now you can turn on Photo Stream.

    Part 2

Thanks for the feedback Skhorchid.  Glad it worked for you too.

A bit later I discovered that Photo Stream was not working on my Windows 7 PC either.  If I opened the iCloud control panel and put a check in the box to turn on Photo Stream, and then closed and reopened the control panel, the check mark was gone again.  Also, nothing happened when I clicked on the options button beside the Photo Stream check box.  I already had version 2 of the iCloud control panel so I could not upgrade further.

I ended up uninstalling the iCloud control panel, rebooting, downloading a fresh copy from Apple, and reinstalling it.  This worked and I now have photo stream working on my Windows 7 system as well.

Thanks forest, yes this is a bug that irritated many users, apple should fix that not the community. Well thanks again and hope others can benefit from that.

    Thanks for the info Forest22.

I had to make a slight change to your procedure to get it to work for me. I found that I had to visit Settings->iCloud twice, once after changing the country and then again after changing it back.

Apple has certainly dropped the ball on this one as their "fix" assumes you have an iPhone/Pod/Pad that has been upgraded to IOS 6. It's the upgrade that forces the prompt to accept the new iCloud TOS.
