Why isn't my MacBook Pro picking up my flash drive?

Where do I find my flash drive once I plug it in? Finder? I'm trying to open a Word document (I have Office for Mac...)

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Try going to Finder preferences,>general, make sure show external drives s checked.

I did that but it still won't show up IOS 10.6. snow leopard

Try double clicking your HD and see if it shows up in the left column under devices
