Q: changed network

I have just changed internet provider and have a new WiFi network. I had a Time Capsule and an Airport express running on the old network  but both now are not showing in Airport Utility.  They are supposed to show up in the WiFi menu but neither does.  How can I find them again to reset the new network details?

Hard resets are only good when you want to change forgotten passwords and retain the other info - and a few other choices - power cycle is a soft reset where you unplug and replug - this just renews connections - a factory reset requires you to supply all new info to match your current configuration - I only do factory resets - and with Windows computers, there is no conflict - you can keep connected via ethernet - and be connected to the Wi-Fi  - in my case, the WiFi is the preferred connection and takes over - if wireless is lost howver, the etherent will take over - but to use either separately you would have to disable one adapter or the other - I am not familiar with Mac'a but it must be a similiar setup

Check out this Link http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3728 to learn more about the resets

I don't ever see any reason to turn off the wireless network - but a wired connection is always more reliable

I tried to cover all combinations - if it is confusing I am sorry - it is late here and I am going to sleep

You have been so helpful thank so much.

I think it is FINALLY resolved.

I have disabled one of the two networks and have now successfully joined both devices to the remaining network.  I will leave it permanently on as well as leaving the computer connected by ethernet.

Itunes now also shows the AP Express plus Apple TV which I have also successfully joined.

    So all good.

Don't know why so much trouble but I'll get a sore head worrying about it so I won't!

Once again thank you for your help.

Thanks for the follow-up - I hope it stays fixed - unfortunately as you know with computers, nothing is guaranteed - you had so many variables that it made it a complicated issue - I have dealt with many trial and error setups myself and the good news is that once you resolve all of the issues, they tend to be stable - good luck.
