iTunes64 Setup is not a valid Win32 Application

For a long time now, my computer has never been able to update iTunes, which I never minded, because I would just uninstall iTunes, and then reinstall with the latest version. However, this time, when I tried doing it, the box "iTunes64 Setup is not a valid Win32 Application" popped up, and I have been unable to do anything.

I have already tried downloading through a different browser, and disabling pop-up blockers, deleting the Temp folder and removing all things Apple-related. At this point, I'm pretty frustrated. What should I be doing to fix this?

I'd try downloading and saving a copy of the 64-bit installer to another 64-bit PC.

Copy the iTunes64Setup.exe installer to an external hard-drive, or a large-enough thumb drive or burn it to a CD-R. Carry the installer back to your PC, copy the installer to your hard drive. (Don't run the install from the ExHD, thumb or CD-R.) Start the install by doubleclicking the iTunes64Setup.exe file.

You certainly helped. This time, I was able to begin installing. However, now, during installation, a box opened which said this:

"Could not open key:

UNKNOWN\Components\DA42BC89BF25F5BD0AF18C3B9B1A1EE8\7E577B2224C65CF4E801A9E52375 DB49. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."

Any ideas?

I clicked "OK", and the installation seemed to continue, until a similar box popped up. This time, it said:

"Could not open key:

UNKNOWN\Components\7ABFE44842C12B390AF18C3B9B1A1EE8\000021599B0090400100000000F0 1FEC. Verify that you have sufficent access t that key, or contact your support personnel."

It then proceeded to cancel the iTunes installation. What can I do to fix this?
