iMessage not working on iOS 6

Hello,

After updating my ipad 2 to iOS 6 I have had numerous problems with iMessage.

Messages have been coming through in bunches 2 days later then when they were sent???

The other problem I am now getting is when I send a message it's gets to 90% and then stops and says it didn't get delivered!

Help!?

Charlie

Yep...me too....again only the iPad. Phone is fine...been like it for a few days now although sporadically comes and goes...same problem whether on wifi or tethered to my phone through 3 G

There seem to be a ton of problems this time round updating to ios6. For example I lost a couple of e mail messages this morning...sent ok but never showed up in send or drafts or the recipients inbox.....in the ether I guess.

It really gets in the way of your productivity......it's very disappointing. Hope someone is working on a fix..Apple?

It's almost like the wifi is not fully authenticating and restricting the flow of data and giving the iPad only limited access. I did the iOS6 update wirelessly, because I couldn't get it to work through iTunes (couldn't back up the iPad because a session couldn't be started). Don't know if that has anything to do with it.

I have ipad2 and iPod touch 4th gen and both having trouble getting iMessage to work correctly on a consistent basis. On both devices, whenever the wifi connection gets reset for whatever reason, iMessage will stop working. I have tried all the suggested solutions that have been posted on this site but none of those seem to fix the problem. Eventually though iMessage will start working again, but it usually takes hours after the wifi connection is back on for it to start working again. Like someone else posted earlier, it's almost like ios 6 software is preventing the wifi from authenticating properly. I have also noticed that whenever iMessage doesn't work, apple,s email app will not push messages, though I can still manually fetch them.

It appears that iMessage will not work via wifi unless the phone has cell signal. Cell carriers wouldn't want people to cancel their service and continue to be able to use the phone.

No, I do not believe that is accurate. I have and use Messages on my WiFi only iPad. SMS messaging will not work without a cellular signal, but iOS to iOS device messaging certainly will.
