I find it absolutely amazing that Front Row doesn't support compilation albums when iTunes does. Am I missing something ? I would think this would be "day one" functionality.
New to Macs. Ones of the migrators. Impressed in other areas - except the one area that made me switch, which was Front Row.
I can only agree, why apple why. Front Row's music module is almost useless at the moment for me. I need the compilation feature. I would also like a quick way to go to a letter for example 'r' if I want to play Ramones. It takes forever to scoll down to r in my library.
So - how do you actually get an totally obvious feature instated into a product ? Does calling tech support help ? How do calls get logged or requests get registered ?
I can only think that there is an ultimate plan to
a) put a configuration icon in System Prefs to allow customisation
b) a chargable Front Row Premium product with the functionality everyone REALLY needs
c) no-one is listening
d) Apple would like to remove the concept of compilation albums from peoples brains for some higher marketing reason!
Yeah totally agree.
I have had to create playlists for certain bands i like so i can easily navigate in FrontRow.
The problem is with the Compilation feature not working, it makes it even harder to navigate through the artist list as there is an extra 2000 artists with only one or 2 songs attached.
Media Central from Equinux software has just been upgraded and includes this feature. You have to pay - but it seems to do everything FrontRow doesn't (but should).
Hard to believe, but this still hasn't been fixed, not even in the complete redesign of Front Row in Leopard. Guys! FIX THIS! Front Row is completely UNUSABLE for all users with compilations in their music library!
I have been waiting for one and a half years now to be able to use Front Row ... installed Leopard today ... hoped for the best ... but again, disappointed.
Quote>>Why not just go in through ALBUMS, select the album that is a compilation, and play it?
thats not the issue for me. if i add 3 dance music compilations, with 20 tracks on each, to my library i will then have 60 faceless artists in my artists list. i dont want them there.
add another 2 compilations and that would be around 100 artists that i have never heard of in the list.
my library is 90 gig at present and contains 154 artists in the browser list. the front row artist list in the above example would be 254 artists.
I don't want artists from compilations included in the artist list in front row. end of.
