Brightness shortcut for iOS 6 or iphone 5 anyone?

Hi apple smarties,

I know that in ios 5.0 there used to be a shortcut that could be put on the homescreen for brightness adjustments, and it was taken away in 5.1 but has anyone found a workaround for later ios versions? I also tried asking siri to decrease the brightness but she said she couldn't do it!? I know there are apps out there, but I guess it would be just as fast for me to open up settings>brightness as it would for me to open up an app. I wish that little double tap of the home button and slide to the left would be available on the iphone as it is on the ipad. Am I missing something here? Does anyone know the right words to ask siri to do it? I don't have a jailbroken phone. Thanks!

You can adjust the brightness of your iPhone manually, on Settings>Brightnes & Wallpaper

Shorter than that? Really? hah, i really dk

When you have to set brightness every single morning, this gets old really fast.

Set up to adjust automatically, your iPhone will adjust the brightness according to your ambient light 🙂

This would be absolutely perfect, if it worked at all. The iPhone's idea of "dark" is to lower the brightness about 2% between a bright room and a dark room. When I wake up in the morning and check on our baby through his video monitor on the phone, it blinds me every morning. So I go to settings and turn down the brightness. Then when I finally get up, I go to settings again and turn the brightness up so I can see it in a brighter room.

It's simply silly how badly the auto brightness function works.

Thanks for the QBright suggestion above ravfromvancouver...I'll check this out.

Thank you Samiwas 1.That app "Qbright" is what I use all the time for video. And this another reason that firing of Scott Forstall maybe a welcome step up for IOS.Because users for years have been requesting simple toggles switches for on and off for Bluetooth and WI-FI or a brightness toggle, instead of digging into a dozen menues to do this. But never did we get this, but the competitors had this from day one.And I know you have access to bluetooth on the first page of settings now,but you still have go into at menu to on and off it.But not to have these simple switches or brighntness/volume controls by now in IOS 6,just tells me the typical "I know whats best" attitude from the software team that was headed by Mr Forstall, and maybe in IOS 7 simple things like this will be finally present.

I tried Qbright and it didn't 'do it for me. Maybe I was doing something wrong, but when I dimmed it, it was so dim that when I wanted to use the phone it was very difficult to see to bring it back to regular brightness.

All I am asking for is something that already exists on the iPad! If you double tap the home button on the iPad you get to the play pause features and if you swipe that area to the right you'll see the darn brightness function. It's perfect and easy and why can't they just put it on the iPhone!!!??? I keep trying it after ios updates hoping that they just snuck it in there.

As for the ability to turn the bluetooth or GPS off, that isn't something I do frequently, except I do put it into Airplane mode EVERY night b/c I have my phone nearby in bed (mainly for the flashlight app). I do really like the do not disturb function, but I digress from the originaly topic of brightness.
