    Have you seen that this problem maybe concers also Some Sprint clients ?  It seems that Sprint iPhone even confirmed unlocked by Sprint can't send SMS with gsm network outside US

    I know it concerns some other Sprint clients but i think apple shoud take part, because they sold me the phone and they told me that it will work with any carrier due to the fact that are worldphones. I hope they change mi iphone for an at&t one. I will take it to the store and try to talk to the manager.

    Yes it's an Apple failure because even Sprint service can't get a clean unlock from Apple for their client devices

    You are lucky to be able to join the shop again ... They will change it for sure

    Hi all,

    I'm from Italy and I have your same issue regarding SMS from my Iphone 5.

    I've bought it in SAn Francisco and at the Apple Store they said it would be worked all over the world as it was unlocked (it's the reason why I've paid it at a full price). when I came back to Italy and I first turned my device on, I' noticed that it works for calls, and it correctly receive messages but I can't send messages. I've called Apple support and they said (afeter long phone calls) that this kind of issue could just be solved by Sprint. I've called Sprint and they said they could not solve it but just Apple can do. I just like to ask to Apple why they're selling a locked device at a full price while we could buy locked devices at a very lower price? as I think APple is an important and famous society, I'm sure the could find a solution for this issue that, as I can understand reading forums and comments on the web, it's an issue that concerns so many people in the world.

    looking forward to receive a solution and a confimration form Apple.

    As long call yesterday with the Supervisor from Apple, they didn't give any idea rather than suggest to contact my Carrier.


    I did action this morning with my friend in my Carrier, from their side, they didn't got any sms from my Iphone 5 in their System.


    What's about you, alessandro.zazzera?

    Apple support giving as anwer "contact your carrier" is unacceptable as this is not a carrier problem, the worldwide scale of the problem proves that, this is not a nano SIM problem for the same reason.

    On my side, after sending few emails to Tim Cook I've bee contacted this morning by Apple Singapore, the person asked me few technical thing ( did I check with my local carrier, did I have a nano sim card valid , did I've made a restore ... ) , I've been straight to point and said they should be aware that the problem is worldwide and we have done everything we could to solve the pb on our side, the person seems to admit that and said that they will report to their engineer service with a maximum of information, she said she will call me back begening of next week.

    Anyway they must find a solution, if it's not a technical solution then they should propose a comercial solution ... it concerns to many people

    We also have the same problem here in London.  It's a fault with the phone no doubt about it.  We were missold the 16gb sprint model having been told it would work perfectly fine abroad.  The Apple store refuses to replace it so what we're left with is a very expensive half phone.  I find it quite ridiculous that nobody from Apple has responded to this issue in the forums.  We too are waiting to hear back from Apple Support so will update this thread when we have a response from them. Not impressed at all.

    London.  They mentioned some rubbish about having to tranfer IMEI numbers to a new phone and in doing so the new phone would end up having the problem too.  Point is, we didn't purchase IMEI numbers, what we thought we purchased was a fully functional phone.

    Apple ought to admit it is a problem with its work force at US Retail Sore. They are misleading tourists from all over the world pushing Sprint phones with the declaration they would work flawlessly overseas. It's over the liability created by these employees - we are Apple customers. We love the brand, the products, the entire ecosystem they've created. We don't deserve this kind of treatment. We were told this device would work worldwide, and we paid for it.


    BTW: Seems U.S. Stores are replacing the phones for a unlocked AT&T device if go back there and explain what happened. Unfortunately, for the majority of the people here, coming back to the US to return the phones it's not a short-term solution.


    Personally, I've reached US Apple support, told the issue twice, and still waiting for the return of the case...

    BTW ... personally I have been contacted by Apple Singapore from the executive relation service ( don't know if it's the support or ?) after 2 emails, I have made also some tweets on his twitter account. They will call back next week, trying to find a solution on the technical side ... I guess I am on the same track than people who has called Apple support
