CPU

CPU usage grows and grows causing serious increase of mac temperature especially when playing videos. What can be the reason? And how to escpe this problem?

Using Activity Monitor? what is using the most? what about anything 3rd party that isn't compatible? and are you still on 10.6.8?


I would try links above and you could first try


Boot off another device and repair your drive;

Safe Boot and follow with standard boot (will take slightly longer to rebuild and load)


Probably have something installed like driver or background process, thinks like Norton can be notorious.

Somewhat trial and error and making a list of your loaded extensions.
