MacBook Pro OS X version 10.7.5 unable to find HP printer. HP drivers has been downloaded.

I bought a MacBook Pro OS X version 10.7.5. This laptop can't find an HP Photosmart C6180 printer using USB cable. USB is the only option I have since the wireless capability of this printer is not working. I downloaded the HP driver software thru apple but still no luck. All software update has been downloaded as well. I went to system preferences, clicked on 'print and scan' and since there is no printer displayed, I clicked the '+' on the left side but still unable to find the printer.

FYI: If this printer is connected to a different laptop (windows as OS) using USB, there is no problem printing.

I am having the same issue. When I called HP I was told the driver will no longer work. I am very upset! I went from a perfectly good printer working fine - purchased in Oct 2010 - to a printer that is now printing very slowly just a few minutes after the download. Permissions were repaired so that iPhoto would work. So it has more to do with the driver than permissions. Has anyone else found a solution?

A little late, but this happened to me after my MacBook Pro crashed and I recovered using TimeMachine. There were actually no drivers available to choose from, from any manufacturer. I downloaded the drivers from the apple support page, http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907, and all drivers were repopulated, from all manufacturers. Weird. I know.

And to put it into perspective, I print wirelessly through a shared computer that runs Windows XP and is connected through the USB to that machine.

Works fine, now.
