I've been told that the X in OS X is pronounced ten, (though I never have or will), that would seem to make OS Ten Ten.Eight a bit redundant to me.

I usually refer to it as iOS8.2 so as not to confuse it with a real Computer OS.

I am with you all the way on that concept. I'll pass on the "8" and stick with 10.7.4 on my main MacBook Pro. And some are having big problems with 10.7.5 which seems to want to bring some of the wonders of "8" to "7".
