Data Migration issues...

Hi,

I performed a data migration from my external HD to my MacBook Air.

Now when I open up a file in my apps (recently-Numbers), I get a message that I need to make a duplicate to work on the file.

When I make a duplicate, work on the file and try to save it to a specific folder, I get a message that it can't be saved because I do not have authorization. I have found that I can only save to my desktop, and then I still cannot drag & drop the file into the folder without getting the same message.

I have gone into the "get info" pane and allowed myself to read&write, but that does not seem to work either.

Is there something that I need to do, or is this how data migration works, i.e., everything must be duplicated, etc.? If so, this seems a bit silly and dumb. I could have just created the files from scratch on the MacAir and bypassed these steps.

Please help.

MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1)
