Why does it take iMovie so long to share my video?

1:23 as one hour twentythree minutes? then, 5h rendering for a 1080 output or a 'multi sized' iTunes export is not the fastest but a realistic time

first, your harddrive should offer at last 20-40GB free space …

check this first.

plus, tell us your Macs specs

do you know, wether your harddrive was partitioned?

if so, the partition for the OS has to offer 20-40GBs free

final question: the clips you're editing are imported from a camera?

That's nothing. I'm process a 2:09 movie that first said it would be 8 hours. Then this morning when that was done it now says "Creating the HD1080 movie and will take another 24 hours. I'll be dead before I can burn this DVD.

a 1080.mov is of no use on a DVD, which offers SDef only.

without giving in-depth info about your set-up (Mac, apps, video), no help possible ....

I should rephrase, I used the Export feature in iMovie. I don't do this often and I'm not sure what format the output file will be. It didn't say when I exported. I assume it will be an MOV file?

My computer is a 2009 iMac. Not sure of the specs now, I'm at work. I think its a 2.6G, 4mg ram. It's got a 320G HD with 50G free and a 1TB external with 500G free. Video source is a Fuji X-E1 that generates MOV files.
