I have OS X 10.7.5 on a MacBook Pro.
I tried to get the UUID of the volumes using the diskutil info command but the UUIDs are not shown in the results.
I also checked the system.log to find the UUID when volumes are mounted and I don't see any entry of this kind.
Can anyone tell me how to get the UUID of volumes in OS X 10.7.5 ?

I use the correct command. The thing is that I used diskutil on a DVDROM mount volume and I now suppose these kind of mounts do not have UUID as hard drive do. Unless I am wrong ? Thanks for the post.
Type the command are you using?
In 10.6.8 this works
diskutil info /
I wonder what could have changed in 10.7 or perhaps you are not referencing the external volume correctly.
