after updating my iP4 and iP4s phones to iOS 6, i noticed that there is difficulty in connecting with facetime either via wifi or using 3G network. why is this so?

No way to know without more useful info. "Difficulaty in connecting" - what does that exactly mean? Who is your carrier? Where are you located?
prior to iOS 6 I just have to connect to facetime easily. but after updating to iOS 6 signal seems to get lost all the time both on wi-fi and 3G. the message is "Signal lost due to Poor Connection"
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

modular 747: it seems to work 🙂 thanks alot. i am able to connect now. video hangs up from time to time but at least its better than before.
off topic: do you have any idea why my Auto Lock feature doesn't work? I have done hard reset already but the auto lock isn't working. i have to press the power button to turn off my screen or else its on all the time.
You're welcome. If you're using Assistive Touch, there is a known issue with autolock not working as expected. There are at least a couple of threads about it - do a forum search - workarounds are discussed.
