I have the same problem here. It just a one month since I bought it from Singapore online shop. I use Mobitel in Sri Lanka. It shows "No service" If i do not use the phone for few hours. Probably 4-5 times a day. I contacted apple via a chat. They asked me to reset the phone. Then instructed me to update to 7.0.4. But did not work. Still the restart should be done. Thinking of sending the phone back to them. Any suggestions please let me know.

Request for nano sim replacement as I did.

Turn off LTE, or if you don't have LTE, turn of 3G in settings. This helped. But since I updated to iOS 7 problem dissapeared.

Thank you Heneo for your advice. I replaced the Nano SIM but it comes again frequently.

Thanks Gerbreder I turned off the 3G settings it did not come again. Now I am using without 3G. Whenever I wanted 3G I enable it. But I will update the OS again to check it is again.

Do you think this is a problem in the IPhone? I have got 11 months warranty left. What should I do?

Thank you all for your advices beacause curretly i am using the phone anyway.

Unfortunately I'm having this very same issue with my iPhone 5 without  success from any methods listed here.  I've tried all the software settings, resetting my network settings, new nano-SIM, and restoring the phone.   When I restored the phone, it won't activate through iTunes or through Wi-Fi access.  "We're sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time."  This is highly frustrating and I've ended up buying a  new phone because I can't use the iPhone at all.  I even went as far as having a phone repair shop open the phone and try a new antenna - that didn't work either.  So now I'm down to the problem being a software issue with Apple.

Back story:  I bought the phone (unlocked) from another military member here in Germany last year in November and have been using it ever since then without a single problem with the SIM or antenna reception.  On 18 January, I woke up to see my phone had "No Service" as the status.  The phone hadn't been dropped, fell in water, or anything else to damage it or cause it not to work.  I've had it in the Otterbox case I purchased when I got the phone ever since.

Unless an Apple Store employee can resolve this issue, I will NEVER buy another iPhone again.  I owned the original upon release, the 3G, 4 and 4S without ever having a single problem until now.

If anyone else reading this is considering buying a 5, 5S or 5C I suggest you steer clear until they get this problem sorted out.  I didn't buy an iPhone to have this many problems.

Hope it's not the hardware issue. I used this thread to solve my no service error

    Only resolution:

Myself and the wife both have the same phone and provider.  Unfortunately I did the upgrade and my phone suddenly was unable to get service/ battery drain increase/ 1 bar 1x.  First I was toss back in forth from my sprint provider to Apple then vice versa.  Each company blamed the other.  One claimed it was a tower issue, the other hardware.

I finally made an appointment to Apple and advised them this is a known issue after faulty firmware updates.  Mine started right after the update. My wife's phone works fine because she did not update. After showing our phones apple tech replaced mine.  No more issues.  My conclusion is Apple is aware of this firmware update causing providers to not accept lte or good connection. Good thing my phone was still under warranty.

    Only resolution new phone.

By the way I did the sim / reset / all the suggestions to no avail.  You can continue to try, however once your hardware has malfunctioned due to the update you are out of luck.  I am hesitant to do any updates now.

The rep at the store was aware of the issue. As soon as I explained the situation he gave me a new phone. Question arises if I was out of warranty? Then I will be SOL.
