iMac G3 (OS X 10.3.9) file sharing won't start

When I try to start file sharing (sharing Public folders over AFP) on my old iMac G3 (running OS X Panther 10.3.9) in System Preferences it doesn't work. No error is displayed, it just hangs at "Starting file sharing......". Can anyone help?

Problem solved, just reinstalled OS X and it works fine now.
